Seguin Yoga is located in the coastal woodlands of Georgetown, ME. We are on the traditional homelands of the Wabanaki Confederacy and we acknowledge and honor the ongoing presence of the Tribes who comprise the Wabanaki Confederacy-the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Maliseet and Micmac peoples

Seguin Yoga’s classes are held up among the trees at the Gathering Space — a space envisioned and created by Seguin Tree Dwellings. Seguin and all of its branches is a project of creativity and passion. We set out to build a place where others could be inspired by these vistas, experience the whimsy of childhood tree house dreams, ignite their own creativity and embrace the literal change of perspective that tree tops bring. With the building of the gathering space we draw on further aspects of our professional backgrounds in facilitation, academia, writing, art, movement and social work.

We are currently expanding the programming portion of Seguin to include workshops, retreats, performances and discussions. We kicked-off our Artist in Residence program in the Spring of 2018, hosting poets, photographers, writers, and visual artists (learn more about the artists and their wonderful work here). The gathering space is also the classroom for the students at the Seguinland Institute, our sister non-profit.

We are delighted to share this place with you, our guests..

Beginning in June 2021, guests may book The Entire Property, including all 21 acres, 3 tree dwellings, 3 hot tubs, gathering space and cookhouse in the trees. Interested? Reach out here.

Facilitators

Ida Lennestål

Ida is a treehouse-preneur, runner, ice-bather and hobby-forager who hails from Luleå in the north of Sweden where the reindeer roam. Ida was introduced to yoga asana as an anxious teen who had been on-the-move from a young age. The practice followed her sporadically, as she floated from London to India to Berlin to Cuba…Eventually, somehow, she grew roots on the salty island of Georgetown, Maine - building treehouses, raising tiny humans and exploring this new land. Living across a vast ocean from friends and family, a regular practice of yoga and mindfulness became a tool for grounding herself in this place and in her body.

Ida enjoys teaching a Hatha-flow style of yoga with a focus on the energetics of the body. Her intention as a teacher is to create a space that is welcoming to all (beginners and experts alike) and to facilitate movement and breath such that students experience the insights that come with greater awareness of their bodies and minds. Her wish is that this practice deepens not only their connection to the many layers of self but also to the environment around us. Ida looks forward to practicing with you.

Maya Rook

Maya completed her 200-hour RYT from Pele Yoga (now Atha Yoga) in Rochester, NY, in the fall of 2019. Embracing a variety of yoga and movement styles—including vinyasa, yin, power, and dance—Maya strives to create an environment where students can move with freedom, connect the mind and body, and find ways to breathe into whatever circumstances arise. Her classes have been described as magical, intuitive, and meditative.

Raised in a Buddhist household and learning to meditate at a young age, Maya brings with her over 25 years of formal meditation experience. She worked as the Head of Programs for a non-profit meditation center in NYC, has taught introductory and specialty meditation and movement classes, and coordinated many retreats. With this solid ground of practice and hands-on experience, Maya aspires to make meditation practices accessible to everyone, break through common misconceptions about mindfulness, and help people connect with the present moment through breath and movement.

Join Maya to get to the core of mindfulness and movement practices in a way that is grounded and accessible.
